A meeting of the Standing Committee on Zakat & Ushr was held at the Punjab Assembly under the leadership of Chairman Sardar Mansab Ali Dogar, MPA. Amer Liaqat Chattha, Secretary Departmental Committees-II, attended the meeting along with Irfan Ahmad Sindhu, Secretary Zakat & Ushr; Muhammad Aslam Ramay, Administrator Zakat & Ushr; and Arshad Ahmad Maneka, Deputy Secretary. The Secretary Zakat & Ushr briefed the committee on the structure of the Department of Zakat & Ushr. He also provided details about the functions of the Punjab Zakat & Ushr Council, District Zakat & Ushr Committees, and Local Zakat & Ushr Committees. Furthermore, the Secretary informed the committee that more than 8,000 women have been supported through the Marriage Fund. He also announced that the Zakat & Ushr Department is planning to launch an E-Bike scheme in September 2025. The committee directed the Secretary Zakat & Ushr to prioritize the re-establishment of District and Local Zakat & Ushr Committees, which were dissolved in 2023, and to implement an online platform to ensure transparency within the department.
