Zakat Rashan Card

Zakat Rashan Card is a monthly grant meant for the chronic poor. It aims to safeguard them from hunger which is both cause and manifestation of extreme poverty. Its current monthly rate is PKR 2000 and istehqaq is determined by  the Administrator/ Local Zakat & Ushr committee of the area of residence of the deserving (mustahiq) person. As of October 2014,  Zakat Rashan Card is paid through branchless banking after  Biometric verification System (BVS), which is relatively faster, more convenient and more transparent .

Eligibility Criteria

Istehqaq shall be determined by the Local Zakat Committee concerned. The following eligibility criteria shall apply:

  • An adult Muslim, living below the poverty line eligible to receive Zakat under Shariah
  • Unemployed
  • Should not be a habitual beggar,
  • Should not be a Government servant
  • Should not be a Pensioner
  • Should not be a Sahib-e-Nisab
  • Preference shall be given to orphans, widows, divorced, the handicapped, the disabled and persons in old-age.
  • Preference shall be given to poorest of the poor.
  • Preference shall be given to such widows/ divorced who have small children.
  • Widows, who are already receiving family pension after the death of their husbands, are not eligible.
  • Widows, divorced or unmarried women, who are already receiving family pension after the death of their fathers, are not eligible.
  • Such persons, who are receiving financial assistance from Punjab Bait-Ul-Mall, Pakistan Bait-Ul-Mall, Punjab Social Protection Authority (PSPA), BISP or any other public institution, are not eligible.
  • Not more than one mustahiq shall be selected from one and the same Household for the sanction of Zakat Rashan Card.

How to Apply

The deserving person can apply to the Administrator/Chairman, Local Zakat & Ushr  Committee of the area of his/her residence. Local Zakat Committee, keeping in view of the financial condition of the applicant, may determine or reject his/her Istehqaq. Zakat Rashan Card  is paid  via branchless banking.

Documentation

  • Prescribed form for Zakat Rashan Card
  • Valid CNIC of the applicant
  • Istehqaq shall be determined by the Chairman/Administrator, Local Zakat Committee concerned.
  • Copy of Resolution Register of Local Zakat Committee
  • Copy of Istehqaq Register (LZ-19) of Local Zakat Committee
  • Provided cell number should be registered against the CNIC of the applicant
