Approval of Release of Funds for Scholarships to Students

Provincial Zakat Council has granted approval to release of a sum of Rs. one crore 57 lakh and 57 thousand under the head of educational scholarships General and Religious for the boy and girl students of 12 districts of the province. It was decided in a meeting of the council presided over by Chairman Provincial Zakat Council Justice (Retd.) Akhtar Hassan, here Monday. Secretary Zakat & Ushr, Habib ur Rehman Gillani, Administrator Muammad Afzal Ranjha, Deputy Administrator Zakat (Field) Rana Muhammad Sajjad Babar, representatives of Local Government, Finance and Social Welfare departments and members of the council including Hafiz Zubair Ahmed Zaheer, Saeed Ahmed Ansari, Azhar Farouqi and Mohtarma Tanveer Kausar were present.The meeting gave approval to the release of a sum of Rs. one crore, seven lakh, 41 thousand and 464 for scholarships to 2166 boy and girl students of 69 educational institutions of nine districts of the province including Lahore, Sialkot, Mianwali, Chakwal, Rajanpur, Toba Tek Singh, Pakpattan, Attock and Nankana Sahib. Similarly, it was decided to immediately release an amount of Rs. 50 lakh 16 thousand and 600 for scholarship to 1254 male and female students of 12 religious seminaries of three districts of the province including Sialkot, Rajanpur and Nankana Sahib,Chairman Provincial Zakat Council, Justice (Retd.) Akhtar Hassan and Secretary Zakat and Usher Habib ur Rehman Gillani directed the officers of the department to ensure immediate release of the funds approved by the council so that it could reach deserving students within a week.
